MetroPCS has announced the launch of the 4.5-inch Spirit 4G smartphone built by South Korean handset manufacturer LG.
Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the device's 4.5-inch touchscreen boasts Corning Gorilla Glass technology. It's powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and a 2150 mAh battery, which will deliver talk time of four hours and a standby time of 200 hours.
A 5-megapixel camera is integrated on the device's rear with LED flash that's capable of shooting 1080p videos, joined by a front-facing 1.3-megapixel snapper for video chat. There's also 4 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32 GB.
The LG Spirit 4G is available for an off-contract price of $199 due to a $70 mail-in rebate. It can be purchased through MetroPCS stores and on the carrier's online store. Consumers can combine it with new 4G plans starting at $40 per month.
The prepaid carrier and LG said that Spirit 4G sales will contribute towards the nonprofit youth program, After-School All-Stars. For every unit sold, both firms will donate a dollar to the organization.

jerm1027 wait, did I read that correctly? 2150mAh and only 4 hours of talk!? Did LG intentionally look for the most power-hungry cell radio on the market? I mean it sounds like a good phone, but only 4 hours of talk? Come on!Reply -

As far as I'm concerned, 3k mAh is a requirement now for any phone I buy. The next one will probably be the Motorola X-Phone if the specs come out as anticipated. -

This phone is the same as the LG-L9.
What do you expect for $199 (after $70 MIR)?? This is good for those that don't have a lot to spend and need a lower cost monthly bill. -
oneblackened Is anyone else somewhat concerned that even four months after 4.2 came out that manufacturers are still releasing 4.0 phones?Reply
