UK to Get New 500GB PS3 Slim & Light on 28 September

The Tokyo Game Show is set to run Thursday, September 20, through to Sunday, September 23. However, that didn't stop Sony from announcing a brand new version of the PS3 early on Wednesday morning. According to the company, this new PlayStation will come in 250GB and 500GB capacities and will be 20 percent lighter and 25 percent smaller than the current model of PS3.

We already know that the 250GB model will arrive in the states on September 25 and the 500GB model will come next month. But what about the UK? According to the PlayStation Europe blog, the UK and Ireland will be getting the 500GB model on September 28 as part of a bundle that includes FIFA 13. This will be priced at €299.99.

This launch will be closely followed by "a wallet-friendly 12GB version," which will be priced at around €229.99. Owners of this 12GB model will be able to connect a 2.5 inch SATA internal hard drive with use of an official Mounting Bracket, or opt for purchase of an official PlayStation 250GB internal HDD. No word on when this model is being announced, though it sounds like we won't have to wait much longer once the 28th arrives.

You are missing the point guys.
RT Strategy game? Yep, PC only.
    Seriouis FPS? Yep, PC only.
Arcades? Uhm, I'd say console is more comfortable.
Same goes for number of genres, actually for pretty much anything that doesn't need a mouse.

In relaxed "I sit on my sofa in front my TV" gaming console beats PC. Well, at least for me and I have both PC & PS3.

My guess, as a non gamer, is that either system has it's advantages.
If I had kids I'd rather have them use a closed system then a PC where all sorts of things can go wrong, especially with little sticky fingers around :-)

I wouldnt call it an advantage either since it shows on the gameplay and graphics.

I want a multi-disc DVD changer so I can load the console up with 10 disc or more. No matter how small they make the thing getting my lazy ass off the sofa to play another game is the really issue!
The sensible option would be to copy the DVD to the HDD; but that make too much sense.

720p games don't look great on a large screen (60") but Batman and Burnout are still fun.
Great games are good to go back to after a few years when you are bored, even for only a level or two.
