Eurocom Program Offers Devs Discount On VR Ready Laptops
Eurocom, a company which makes some of the most powerful laptops available, announced a new developer program meant to help VR developers attain the hardware they need, at a slight discount.
Eurocom is offering the SKY DLX7 and SKY X9 desktop replacement laptops to qualified developers at a 10% discount. These devices offer desktop Intel Skylake processors and desktop class Nvidia GTX 980 graphics cards, which is more than enough performance to meet the needs of anyone looking for a portable VR system.
To qualify for the discount, Eurocom is asking for a one-paragraph outline of the work you are doing in VR development, along with links to your work, website or portfolio.

chicofehr These are desktop replacement laptops which are not portable whatsoever. But for me, I always have my laptop on the charger anyway, so its no a problem. I'll wait for the 8/10 core version to come out first and for someone to pay for it :PReply -

I see no reason a person couldn't carry this to work every morning and back home at night. The heaviest of the two laptops mentioned is only 10.582 pounds. With any good backpack that weight would hardly be noticeable. -
jt AJ this is the only laptop nowadays with socketed CPU. laptop with mobile cpus going forward all are BGA trash, unless pay a premium for a dumb locked mobile xeon.Reply -
Andrewst1021 At 10.5 pounds its more of "move it around the house" rather than being actually mobile. Try to walk around with even a 5 pound laptop inside a backpack for more than 10 minutes and you will understand.Reply
