Comparison Products

The Goodram PX700 is in a tight spot with ample competition in today’s market. This has been true for some years now, but some more recent releases have turned up the heat. These would include the Sandisk WD Blue SN5100 with its fantastic random read latency, the Crucial P310 with surprisingly good all-around performance, and even the Samsung 990, which was a very late arrival. Existing drives with comparable hardware to the PX700 include the Acer FA200 with QLC flash plus the Biwin Black Opal NV7400, Addlink A93, and Inland TN470 with TLC. The last of these also uses a Phison controller rather than the more common Maxio MAP1602. Lastly, we have the budget-minded Kingston NV3, which is always looming in the background.

    Prices:
    1 TB = $348
    2 TB = $613

"The Goodram PX700 is a budget PCIe 4.0 drive that delivers everything you need"
I have the feeling the word "budget" in this sentence is not what the author think it is.

But hey, the current year is 2026 AI (no more BC / DC/ BCE / ACE etc, now it is the year of our AI overlords). So, maybe it became "budge" and nobody noticed.

    $613 for 2TB on a PCI-e 4.0 SSD from an unknown company? You can buy a top-tier PCI-e 5.0 Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB right now for $399. Something isn't adding up.

Samsung is good company? Not for Linux. Last year this time I bought Samsung PCIe5 and all returned.

Yeah Samsung hasn't been good since the 830 to 850 days. WD/San Disk is top tier, followed by Hynix, then Solidigm, then Micron, and Samsung at the bottom of the pile. Kioxia/Toshiba is great but they really only serve enterprise and would put them near the top but they aren't even trying (much like Micron).

That's quite expensive for an unknown brand. And what's up with so many unknown brands of both SSDs and RAM sticks?
