The AMD and Intel Energy Crisis
VIA K8T890 (PCI Express)
Finally, K8T890 is the PCI Express chipset product from VIA today. Featurewise it is at eye level with NVIDIA's nForce4 chipset except for NVIDIA's integrated ActiveArmor hardware firewall and SLI support. In exchange, VIA's VinylAudio solution proves to be the better audio component ever since NVIDIA decided to drop SoundStorm once and for all.
With two PCIe lanes being part of the south bridge VT8237 and four more in K8T890, VIA is the only company that can match Intel's six PCIe lanes of its latest 945/955 chipsets equipped with the ICH7 south bridge.
