Fall Extreme Gamer System Shootout Part 5: Falcon Northwest Mach V
Look And Feel
As with the Alienware system that had specially-made foam packaging, and the All American with the Benson Box, we were also impressed with Falcon's packaging. Falcon uses spray-in foam cast inside of bags at the top and bottom of the system. This does not allow it to move around when handled by the parcel carriers.
Once open, there is a cloth shroud surrounding the case so the special paint job would not be scratched. Falcon uses a Silverstone SST-TJ03 for the Mach V's case. They have had a good relationship with them, and they deliver solid high-end cases in all shapes and sizes. The cases' construction is solid and fully featured. There are four USB and one 6-pin Firewire ports on the front of the case. One feature of a Falcon system is their paint job. Last time we were treated to Americana flare with a beautiful American Flag design.
This time we received a black case with flames and skulls ablaze. Also, instead of a light box in the front in the design of the Falcon Northwest logo, there was a painted flaming falcon's head.
The paint and artwork on their cases is amazing. There is something about automotive paint applied to a case that is oh, so nice. Just look at the reflective quality of the clear coat layers in the pictures, which are like a mirror.
