In single-threaded iTunes, our pair of AMD Athlon IIs rank by CPU core speed.
Well-threaded HandBrake, however, is a different story entirely. While just another narrow victory for the stock $400 PC, once overclocked, the 3.2 GHz quad easily bests the 3.56 GHz triple-core chip from our efforts back in June.
As expected, the stock September PC again leads in TMPGEnc video converting. The two overclocked systems each split a victory as DivX benefits from the extra core, while Xvid favors the higher processor frequency.
Overclocking the June PC reduces MainConcept's transcoding time by 31 seconds, but unlocking and overclocking together rewards a 50% (46 second) improvement to the time it takes to complete this job for the already-faster $400 PC.
