Video Editing For Beginners: Matrox RT.X10

Everything Is There - Cables Too!

An important component for connecting devices is the breakout box. This allows analog video and audio to be input and output from the PC by means of an extension cable. The breakout box can be placed on the desktop. The need for analog input is diminishing in the digital age, unless you want to convert your old VHS or video-8 cassettes to digital. Analog output, on the other hand, has not yet lost its right to life. This is where you connect the control monitor or television to review your video editing experiments directly. In a pinch, it works without a monitor as well, because you can check your work on the PC display - although not with TV quality.

FireWire cable included for digital camcorders.

The FireWire cord is directly connected to the video adapter. There is no port for it in the breakout box.
