When considering premium desktop gaming monitors, there are two schools of thought: ultimate resolution or ultimate performance. QHD and FHD screens are capable of very high refresh rates but Ultra HD has the highest pixel density. In the latter category, refresh rates have been stuck at 144 Hz for some time and as we’ve learned today, 150 Hz doesn’t do much to alter the landscape.
That aside, the ViewSonic Elite XG320U is an excellent Ultra HD gaming monitor for around $1,000. It delivers a super-colorful image that’s sharp and bright with solid contrast. It doesn’t need calibration and its gaming performance is on par with other Ultra HD 144 Hz screens.
