Streacom has teased its upcoming aluminium and ABS NUC enclosure that fully utilises the potential of this small form factor by doing away with fans and individual heatsinks altogether. Instead, the internal cooling is handled solely through natural induction since Intel's NUC form factor allows the entire case to act as a heatsink and consequently allows heat to simple rise out through the enclosure's cooling fins. Though this particular enclosure is designed specifically for Intel's D33217GKE motherboard, it features a universal CPU block and so should support most future NUC boards.
Though slightly larger than Intel's reference design of 4" (width and depth), Streamcom's enclosure has a very sleek and minimalist exterior that even meshes its power button with it's top mounted cooling fins. It is also worth noting that the side of the chassis is constructed from ABS to avoid reducing WiFi signal strength.
Streacom's new NUC enclosure will be available by Q2 2013 in two colours, silver (pictured above) and carbon black with a currently unknown price tag.
