Acer today at Computex unloaded a bunch of new product announcements, many of which are designed to take advantage of Windows 8 when it releases later this year.
The Aspire S7 Series are the company's new ultrabooks that will come in 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch sizes that will have HD touch screens. Both feature a sleek aluminum metallic unibody design. The larger model additionally sports a glossy, sculpted glass cover. The 13.3-inch model will offer up to 12 hours of battery life, while the 11.6-inch model can run for up to 9 hours from a single charge.
For those looking for a bigger screen without the need for portability, Acer today announced two new Windows 8 all-in-one (AIO) PCs at Computex Taipei: the Aspire 7600U (27-inch) and the Aspire 5600U (23-inch).
The 35 mm thin Aspire 7600U supports up to 64-point simultaneous touch from all angles on its full HD screen, enabling use by multiple users at once. It features 0 to 90 degree viewing and swivels at four sides when laid flat for enjoyment by more than one user. The even-thinner Aspire 5600U can tilt from 30 to 85 degrees. Both feature Dolby Home Theater Surround Sound.
For those who need ultimate portability, a pair of tablets are part of the new lineup: the Iconia W510 and W700. The W510 10.1-inch tablet has a tri-mode, allowing users to touch, type and view. Aside from the conventional tablet mode, it can be used in productivity mode. A detachable keyboard dock can be connected to the tablet for optimal typing as well as extending the battery life up to 18 hours. Rotating the tablet 295 degrees allows it to be used in presentation mode.
Acer's W700 has an 11.6-inch full HD screen and comes with a multipurpose cradle that allows for several viewing options and three USB 3.0 ports for expansion.
