HighPoint Announces RocketStor 5422 Dual-USB 3.0 Dock
HighPoint has launched a storage dock that uses two USB 3.0 interfaces in order to fully dilate a SATA3 connection.
HighPoint has introduced a new USB 3.0 based storage dock, though this is no ordinary storage dock.
Normally, storage docks will be limited by the interface speed of the connection to the PC, which in the case of USB 3.0, is limited to 5 Gb/s. SATA3 devices, though, feature an interface speed of 6 Gb/s. Yes, we know, the two are quite similar, but it appears that HighPoint thought that they were not good enough, and thus it made the RocketStor 5422. This storage dock has not one, but two USB 3.0 interfaces, both of which need to be connected in order to dilate the SATA3 interface of the storage device that is docked.
The device has UAS support. UAS is short for USB Attached SCSI. Through this, it is possible to insert just about any 2.5" or 3.5" drive with a SATA interface. Plug and Play is even supported.
The unit should already be arriving at select retailers, and it carries an MSRP of $99.
