Unlocked 32 GB NUU Mobile Z8 With Dual-LTE SIM Now Available For $300

Earlier this year, NUU Mobile announced its Z8 flagship device that promised dual-LTE SIM capability, a 64-bit octa-core processor and 32 GB of storage for $300. The smartphone is now available for sale through online retailers such as Best Buy, Target, HSN and Amazon, as well as NUU's own website.

“We are excited to offer our customers an unlocked phone that provides top quality specs, unmatched power and all the benefits of the Lollipop operating system, without forcing high prices or locked contracts on them," said John Murtha, vice president of sales for NUU Mobile. “The Z8 is our highest performing phone yet, and we are thrilled to deliver a fully-loaded smartphone that stays true to our commitment to freedom and flexibility."

The NUU Z8 features a 64-bit ARMv8 MediaTek MTK6752 SoC with an eight-core Cortex-A53 CPU and a Mali-T760 GPU for high-performance gaming.

The device also comes with a larger 5.5" screen and Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera with a Sony BSI sensor, and an 8MP front-camera with wide-angle lenses, possibly making it one of the best smartphones for selfies on the market. It also has LTE connectivity with dual-LTE SIM support, Bluetooth 4.0, noise cancelling audio, and a 2,650 mAh battery.

The Z8 supports the 2, 4, 7, 17 LTE bands, so it will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile's networks, as well as on MVNOs Cricket Wireless, Lycamobile, Metro PCS, Net10 Wireless and Straight Talk, which use those networks, too.

Because the NUU Z8 is an unlocked device, its dual-SIM capability can support either a personal phone number and a business one from the same network, or two numbers from two different networks.

NUU Mobile will offer the 32 GB version of the Z8 in Brushed Black, Brushed White and limited edition colors and patterns in the future. The company will also release a 16 GB model in early August through its own website. This version will cost $250 and will be available only in the Brushed Black color. Both models will run Android 5.0 out of the box.

Looking at the company's site it seems this phone may have both a microSD slot AND removable battery, good on them if that's correct. Now that $500 question is. Will this phone ever see Android versions newer than 5.0 because sooner?

I wish more US providers would be open to the dual SIM concept. I think it would give users more freedom of choice.
