So Many Choices, So Much Fun: Selecting The Parts, Continued
Next, we wanted to include a variety of special mod parts for use inside the case. We had set a pre-existing requirement to use pre-modded parts that were ready to install, rather than parts that had to be put together. Our creative juices weren't quite flowing yet, so we turned to Mark Friga, Jr., the President and founder of Frozen CPU (www.frozencpu.com ), for some really creative suggestions. We were impressed with Frozen CPU's staff and their ability to provide many of the common mods "in house," in addition to their ability to offer a variety of ready-to-install customized options to the mechanically challenged case modder. We were very happy with the products that we purchased from Frozen CPU for this project, as the quality of workmanship and the customer service were excellent.
The Enermax EG465P-VE FC was the power supply that Mark of Frozen CPU recommended for use in our UV PC. The Enermax EG465P-VE FC comes with some stock sleeving for the power connections, but the real beauty was when Frozen CPU's staff sleeved the other power connectors in UV reactive green to match the rest of our parts.
We needed a power supply, so why not have a power supply completely sleeved in all green UV reactive? Frozen CPU said they could do it, and Mark suggested the 460W Enermax Whisper Series. The Frozen CPU crew sleeved the entire unit with green UV reactive sleeves to match our UV green theme, complete with black shrink tubing on the ends. As you can see from the picture above, this power supply is truly a work of art.
Due to the design of the case, we elected to go with both 4" and 12" UV lights. We placed the 4" between the power supply and CD-ROM drive, and the 12" at the bottom. In order to channel our cable runs for a clean look, we opted for extensions on both of the cables for the UV lights; this way, we would have no problem reaching the switch in the bottom 5-¼" bay. And the entire thing was sleeved in UV green to match our great looking power supply.
