U.S., UK Amazon Prime Customers Get Sunday Deliveries
No more waiting until Monday.
Amazon Prime customers already enjoy special perks unavailable to regular users of the online shopping site. Now, Amazon is adding yet another incentive for people to sign up for its premium shipping service.
Amazon today announced that it is now working with the United States Postal Service to deliver packages on Sundays. Starting in the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas, Amazon Prime customers will be able to get packages ordered on Friday on the following Sunday. Amazon and USPS plan to roll out this service to a large portion of the U.S. population in 2014. This includes Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Phoenix, among others.
Though Amazon's press release is certainly U.S.-centric and makes no mention of rolling out services to Amazon Prime users in other regions, the Wall Street Journal cites Amazon's Dave Clark, VP of World-wide Operations, as saying the company will begin Sunday deliveries in London later this month. Rather than using a shipping service, the London Sunday deliveries will use Amazon's own trucks.
