At Computex 2015, Asus updated numerous product lines with Zen-inspired themes, including a new Transformer Book and three new ROG gaming laptops.
The new Transformer Book T100HA is the successor to the Transformer Book T100TA. Similar to the older model, the T100HA maintains the 10.1" display but has upgraded the underlying hardware. The older Intel Baytrail-T CPU is replaced with an Intel Cherry Trail X5 series processor which should increase performance across the board.
In addition, the RAM has been bolstered to 4 GB on all models, Windows 10 will come pre-installed, and it has a built-in USB Type-C connector. (As we noted in an earlier post on Asus' new mobile devices, the company is leading the way in the industry with regards to implementing the new USB connector.) The device also got a little smaller, shrinking in thickness from 0.4" to 0.33" over its predecessor, but surprisingly, the new model is 0.08 lbs heavier.
There were also three ROG laptops that are optimized for gamers. First, there is an update to the ROG G751JY/JT-series notebooks, which now feature built in Nvidia G-Sync displays with a 75 Hz refresh rate. Asus claimed this is the first gaming laptop to be built with a G-Sync capable display. The ROG G751 is powered by an Intel Core i7 CPU, and uses up to an Nvidia GTX 980M GPU.
The second ROG system is the G501, an ultra-thin gaming laptop designed to be more portable than most other ROG gaming laptops. The notebook utilizes a matte 4K UHD display driven by an Nvidia GTX 960M GPU. An Intel Core i7 CPU is also used alongside a 512 GB PCI-E SSD.
The last ROG system is the GL552, which features a fourth-gen Intel Core i7 quad-core processor. Asus was more secretive about the specs inside of this system, but stated it would have a "gaming-grade" dedicated GPU. An SSD is optional, suggesting an HDD or SSHD is the default storage device for this model. The system does get an LED-backlit keyboard with red LEDs.
Unfortunately, Asus didn't say when the ZenBooks or ROG gaming notebooks would enter the market nor how much they will cost, but the new Transformer Book will be available Q3 2015.
