TRENDnet Launches Updated AC1750 Router
TRENDnet has updated its top-of-the-line Wireless AC router.
TRENDnet on Friday announced that it has revised its top-of-the-line networking router, the AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Router (model TEW-812DRU), with new hardware and software features. This is a dual-band Wireless AC router launched earlier this year that supports speeds up to 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band for Wireless AC devices, and up to 450 Mbps on the 5 GHz band for Wireless N devices.
According to the company, the updated model now provides better coverage then the previous version. "For clear line of sight connections to the router at distances greater than 50 feet, users can experience performance increases as high as 100 percent as compared to the first version of the TEW-812DRU," reads the company press release.
The router’s USB port has also been upgraded to USB 3.0, supporting speeds of up to 5 Gbps. This should be ideal for customers who need to share large files across the network like HD movies and high resolution images. No longer will the speeds of USB 2.0 be the bandwidth bottleneck. This port can also be used to share a USB-based printer across the network as well.
"For your security the TEW-812DRU's wireless networks and management interface are pre-encrypted with unique passwords-thereby eliminating the opportunity for hackers to access the device using unchanged default login credentials," reads the company’s press release.
The updated model also includes a new management interface that quickly provides users with key information. After logging in, the router summarizes information like the wireless network setup and respective wireless encryption, internet connection status, guest network status and parental controls. The new interface also displays current connected devices.
"A good thing is getting even better," said Zak Wood, director of global marketing of TRENDnet. "We had an opportunity to significantly improve one of our most awarded and popular Wireless AC routers and we took it. The TEW-812DRU is faster and more user friendly."
Right now the only compatible USB-based adapter TRENDnet offers is the AC1200 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter (model TEW-805UB), which connects at 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band on a Wireless AC network and up to 300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band on a Wireless N network. This adapter is based on USB 3.0.

Companies like Asus, TP-Link, TrendNet, and Amped Wireless are presenting better, more reliable products with better pricing too.
This might just be my next router. -
joebakb @Shovenose2 Well, Belkin bought Linksys a while back. In my experience, Belkin has historically not made the best quality equipment. To that same effect, the Linksys brand started seeing some problems when Cisco bought them..and then subsequently opted out of the home networking sector. Linksys has been bounced around for quite some time and I think their product quality has suffered because of it.Reply
