Cooling System And Heat Levels
As with almost all other shuttle models, the XPC SB77B5 works with a CPU cooling unit that diverts the heat quickly from the heat source. The four heatpipes end in a finned block that is ventilated with a 3.6" (92 mm) fan. The fan is controlled by the BIOS of the motherboard, which offers the user several settings. In a one-hour stress test, the fan seems unperturbed by the heat level generated. Even after an hour the noise level had hardly risen. The gauge showed barely 10 decibels more than after startup, except for the clamor of the fan when the XPC is turned on.
