Benchmark Results: DiRT 2
If you remember back to my GeForce GTX 480 review, I was using the demo version of this title, with its built-in benchmark. We figured out that the demo wasn’t properly recognizing the GTX 480 as a DirectX 11 device, though, and consequently had to retest the AMD boards in DirectX 9 mode. I rectified that this time around, testing the full game using a scripted benchmark in DirectX 11.
One to two card scaling looks good at 1680x1050, but again, that third card adds more overhead than it’s worth, detracting from performance. Scaling at 1920x1200 is very similar.
At 2560x1600, SLI looks particularly impressive when you add a second GeForce GTX 480. CrossFire benefits AMD’s fastest single-GPU card as well, but not to the same extent.
