Widescreen display to account for 90% of notebook market in 2008
Next newsNearly 90% of the notebooks to be shipped by the end of 2008 will use widescreen panels, compared to 69% in the second quarter of 2006 and 76% by year-end, according to research firm Displaysearch.
As Windows Vista operating system (OS) is soon to hit the market, first-tier notebook vendors such as Hewlett-Packard (HP), Acer and Dell have decided not to launch 14" and 15.1" notebooks with aspect ratio of 4:3 any more and opted for 14.1" and 15.4" widescreen models instead, Taiwan-based notebook makers said.
