As fun and addicting as smashing into the egg-thieves of Angry Birds may be, the franchise's villainous pigs have captured the hearts of quite an audience. Now the pig-loving fans will be pleased to learn that Rovio will soon be launching a new game taking place in the same Angry Birds universe, this time starring the pigs.
Dubbed Bad Piggies, the game will make its way over to the iOS, Android and Mac platforms on September 27. Windows Phone, Windows 8 and PC versions will be following shortly after that.
"There's a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we've been constantly asked: what about the pigs' side of the story?" Rovio's CEO Mikael Hed explained. "Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes."
Another Rovio exec Petri Järvilehto comments, “There’s so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what’s going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs.”
According to the folks over at Fastcompany, the game puts the lovable pigs on a deserted island where it is up to the player to build a variety of vehicles and gadgets to free the pigs for some egg snatching glory.
