Dell To Join (Product) RED Campaign
Round Rock (TX) - Dell said that it will begin offering red versions of computers and printers as part of the (PRODUCT) RED campaign, which collects donations for "The Global Fund" to battle HIV in Africa.
Dell will be announcing three RED products at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which will also include by a slightly modified RED version of Windows Vista Ultimate. Microsoft said it has added six unique desktop wallpapers, a screensaver, two Sidebar gadgets and a (RED)-themed Windows "DreamScene" to the operating system.
Dell's offering will be RED versions of the XPS M1530 and XPS M1330 notebook, priced from $1150 each. Dell will send $50 from the purchase price to The Global Fund. $80 go to the Fund, if a XPS One Red (available from $1600) is purchased. Dell will donate $5 for each purchase of a 948 All-In-One Red printer, which has a starting price of $150.
(RED) was founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver and launched in January 2006 at the World Economic Forum. Current (PRODUCT) RED products include, among others, an American Express card, Gap clothing, Converse shoes, Motorola cellphones, Apple iPods and Hallmark greeting cards.
