Any loss of single-threaded performance compared to Sandy Bridge is made up for with a 100 MHz-higher Turbo Boost limit in single-threaded apps, putting the Core i7-3960X on par with Intel’s Core i7-2600K.
Able to use all six of its cores and notable architectural improvements, the Core i7-3960X is able to secure a first-place finish in MainConcept, ahead of the Gulftown-based Core i7-990X.
This is another test capable of leveraging Core i7-3960X’s six cores, yielding the top spot in our HandBrake transcode.
