Benchmark Results: 3DMark Vantage
The Radeon HD 4890 maintains a roughly 10% advantage over the Radeon HD 4870 1 GB in 3DMark’s overall metric. It barely ekes out a win over Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 260 Core 216—a card that sells for less than $200 online. Would the HD 4890 be worth a $75-ish premium in this case? Decidedly not.
3DMark’s GPU scores seem to concur. AMD’s Radeon HD 4890 is generally faster than the GeForce GTX 260 Core 216, but the gap is pretty darn narrow.
As always, our CPU scores are roughly equal—a little trick we learned how to perform a while back by disabling the PPU in 3DMark to avoid a grossly inflated result on the Nvidia boards.
