No Surprise Here: Activision Working on Walking Dead FPS

Honestly, given the popularity of other zombified first-person shooters on the market, it should come as no surprise that someone is developing an FPS based on the Walking Dead franchise. That someone is Terminal Reality, the developer behind BloodRayne, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Aeon Flux, and even oldie but goodie Monster Truck Madness from the mid 1990s.

The story revolves around crossbow-toting redneck Daryl Dixon and his bitterly racist brother Merle as they make their way to Atlanta, Georgia. Players will take the role of Daryl and fight their way across the rolling southern countryside by either fighting the zombie hordes with weapons, or by using stealth to avoid detection altogether. According to Activision, "no place is truly safe."

Although we haven't seen anything official from Activision, IGN reports that Daryl will encounter "a slew of other characters" along that way that will either help him, or try to hurt him, depending on choices the player makes. Whether these characters can tag along during the journey is also completely up to the player, and "represents just some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive."

In addition to fighting zombies and taking on companions, players will have to deal with managing food, ammunition and supplies as they make their journey. Even more, the post-apocalyptic zombies use sight, smell and sound to track your every moment -- sounds like a good case for smearing zombie innards all over Daryl's clothes.

So far the shooter is slated for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in 2013. For additional information, the official website is now live and features a teaser trailer.

Lets see a 49.99 game with tons of 12.99 dlc's with fewer than a handful good maps, then is no thx. Its after all a game published by Mr.Kontiks company, you know the one who ruined Blizzard!

Seriously? Yet another zombie game? That's such a boring and repetitive genre. How can you swallow the same stuff over and over again?

I know people might get upset for this but cmon, the game will be horrible.

Knowing activision it will be just another fast paced shoot 10000 zombies as fast as you can. New dlc packs containing 1-2 maps and a new gun every few months.

I feel sorry for people who get hyped about these kind of news, all you going to get is bad game with bad mechanics aimed for casual audience.
