Comparison: Seven 21" and 22" CRT Monitors

ViewSonic P225f, Continued

Quality-wise, the ViewSonic p225f does not fail its maker's reputation nor that of DiamondTron/ PerfectFlat tubes. The default geometry is excellent in the standard resolutions and needs very little adjustment by the user. Sharpness and precision are very good, but evenness is not beyond reproach.

We noticed a few image precision defects on the edges, though they are very slight. Color rendering is very satisfactory, though the whites, as on the p95f, are not absolutely pure when compared to the Diamond Pro 2060u, for instance. Moiré is practically non-existent and easily dealt with by adjustment. Nor are there any defects in color convergence and linearity.

The OSD is easy to control with the four buttons on the front. It is fairly well-designed, very complete and easy to use. So the p225f is a success and one of the best 22" flat-screen monitors in the test, though it does not reach the image quality of its nearest rival, the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u.
