AVADirect First in U.S. With Clevo's Haswell Gaming Laptop

AVADirect says it's the first retailer in the USA to offer Clevo's new Haswell-based gaming laptop, the P375SM. The portable rig promises the performance of a desktop solution but with a lower power draw than what was seen on the previous model, thus providing more battery life and more plug-free game time.

"The AVADirect Clevo P375SM Gaming Notebook is a direct example of the way in which mobile solutions must adapt to hold and win the interest of the growing enthusiast population," the company states. "[It] is designed for the gamer on the go, with little to no access to an outlet; the battery life will easily speak for itself."

With a starting price of $1995.74, the Clevo P375SM is powered by Intel's latest HM87 chipset. Configurations include the Core i7 Extreme, Core i7 and Core i5 "Haswell" processors, and up to 32 GB of DDR3-1600 SODIMM dual-channel memory. GPU options consist of Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB, GTX 765M 2 GB or ATI Radeon HD 8970M 4GB graphics from AMD – SLI and CrossFire options available.

The laptop also supports up to two SATA HDDs or SSDs with RAID0 and RAID1 capabilities, and an optional mSATA SSD mini-card. Also thrown into the mix is a built-in DVD±R/RW Dual Layer Burner, Wireless N and Bluetooth connectivity, and Gigabit Ethernet. There's even a Thunderbolt port, HDMI 1.4a output, four USB 3.0 ports (one powered for device charging), and a 9-in-1 card reader.

"The integrated speakers are powered by Onkyo, and have the ability to power an external 7.1 surround sound speaker system. Implemented due to popular demand, backlight keyboard, touchpad, and front bezel features are prominently displayed while the notebook is powered, presenting no challenge for the immersed gamer and their nightly gaming binges," the company states.

The laptop also comes with an integrated 2MP camera, a built-in fingerprint reader, an eSATA connector, and an optional TV tuner with remote, allowing users to plug in their cable or satellite feed and turn the portable rig into a full-fledged mobile entertainment center. Operating system options include Windows 7 and 8, Kubuntu, Fedora, CentOS and Debian.

For Haswell gaming laptops, it's the MSI GT60-2od and GT70-2od is where it's at. 3 mSATA slots in RAID, + 1 mechanical drive slot, 780m GPU with optimus, super high cfm fan that keeps the machine cool, rainbow backlit keyboard, 15.6" version is under 8 pounds.
MSI lets you repaste the GPU and CPU without voiding the warranty, pretty awesome
