QuakeCon 2011 in August, Says Bethesda

Gamers looking to visit QuakeCon this year will need to pencil in August 4 to August 7, 2011 according to the official announcement.

Thanks to id Software, Bethesda Softworks, various sponsors and exhibitors, the event will be free to attend and open to the public. The only real requirement for the ultimate id-sanctioned LAN party will be to BYOC... bring your own computer, that is.

Don't want to drag that monster liquid-cooled PC all the way to the heart of Texas? Bethesda said there will be plenty to do. "Bethesda Softworks will offer the first chance anywhere for gamers to get their hands on upcoming titles, and the world’s leading technology companies will be on hand to demonstrate their latest hardware and software in the 45,000 square foot exhibit hall."

QuakeCon 2011 will take place in the same location as last year: the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Those attending the event will likely get hands-on play with Bethesda's upcoming The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and id Software's highly-anticipated mutant-packed FPS, RAGE. Expect to know more about the additional titles as we get closer to the convention later on.

Exhibitors who showcased products last year included Nvidia, Asus and Alienware. The total attendance of QuakeCon 2010 was estimated to be over 8500 people, possibly the highest number of attendees since the convention first kicked off at the Best Western hotel in Garland, Texas back in 1996.
