Ooh, Pretty: MSI Intros Limited Edition Golden GS60 Ghost
MSI and Newegg have teamed up to exclusively offer the GS60 Ghost series of limited-edition gaming laptops. Currently, this line includes the GS60 Ghost Pro 3K and the GS60 Ghost, both of which have 15.6-inch screens. The 3K model has a resolution of 2880 x 1620, whereas the other model sports a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
According to a list of specifications, the GS60 Ghost Pro 3K consists of an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor (2.5 GHz, 3.4 GHz), 16 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory (8 GB x 2), two 128 GB SSDs in RAID 0 and a 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive.
As for the GS60 Ghost, it sports a Core i7-4700HQ processor (2.4 GHZ, 3.4 GHz), 12 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory (8 GB + 4 GB), a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD and a 1 TB 7200 RPM drive.
That is where the differences end. The specifications reveal that both of these gaming laptops include Nvidia's GeForce GTX 870M GPU with 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM. Also thrown into the mix is Killer E200 game networking, four Dynaudio Tech speakers and one subwoofer, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4 output and an SD card reader.
Other features provided in both models include a Full HD webcam, dual-band Wireless AC connectivity, a 6-cell battery, a SteelSeries keyboard with full-color backlighting and dual slim fans to keep the innards cool. These laptops weigh 4.36 pounds and measures 0.78 inches thin.
"Our Golden GS60 Ghost gaming notebooks are designed for mobile gamers wishing to obliterate the opponent in class," says Andy Tung, president of MSI Pan America. "The gold exterior will turn heads, the svelte design will amaze, and the combination of smoking speeds, deadly graphics and amazing customization power will render anybody speechless."
Obviously one of the big selling points here is the decision to go with a pretty golden chassis. This should be perfect for James Bond fans, or those who want to trick their friends into thinking they're financially loaded. This special edition model is definitely an eye-catcher; let's just hope it doesn't attract the wrong attention.
