System Storage And Memory
System Drives: 2 x A-Data S599 64 GB SSD in RAID 0
A-Data continues to provide some of the best value in SandForce-based SSDs, offering up to 280 MB/s reads and 270 MB/s writes from a single drive. As with the previous few $2000 systems, we used two drives to deliver even higher throughput.

Our case does not support 2.5” drives natively, so A-Data’s inclusion of 3.5” bay adapters saves us even more money.
System RAM: 8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600 CAS 8
G.Skill continues to offer value pricing for its DDR3-1600 CAS 8-8-8-24 modules, with recent drops to $90 giving us even more room for this month’s expensive case.

Most of our tests show that these low-cost parts support the same timings at the same voltage as G.Skill’s more-expensive CAS 7 modules, but there’s always a risk in overclocking. It’s good to know, then, that these will reach at least CAS 8 at the 1.50 V industry standard.
