AOC Releases 27-inch "Borderless" IPS Monitor for $299

AOC said on Tuesday that its 27-inch IPS "borderless" display, the i2757fh, is now available for $299 at BestBuy.com and the retailer's top 250 brick-and-mortar stores nationwide. Best Buy's online storefront is actually knocking $30 USD off that price as of this writing, selling the display for $269.99 – free shipping is included!

AOC's new display isn't actually borderless, but the bezel does measure a highly-slim 2-mm, providing an overall sleek, border-free appearance. The i2757fh is actually made of eco-friendly materials such as arsenic-free glass and mercury-free panels, making it a great choice for environmentally-conscious customers.

According to AOC, the new 27-inch monitor is supposedly an iF Product Design Award winner, sporting an artistic design that features a metallic hook-shaped, multifunctional, detachable stand. This stand allows for three different modes of viewing: as a photo frame without a base, as a standard function stand, and as a height-adjustable stand that detaches with the push of a button.

"The i2757fh model, part of AOC’s 57 Series, combines an anti-glare IPS screen with a narrow bezel so that images seem to float without a distracting frame," said Chris Brown, AOC Marketing Manager. "The monitor’s IPS technology and award-winning design deliver an unparalleled display experience to consumers."

The spec list shows the panel to feature a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 5ms response time, support for 16.7 million colors, and a 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The LED backlight panel requires 50-percent less energy than typical CCFL monitors, the company said.

AOC's new display also has built-in speakers and an Eco Mode offering five different optimized display settings (Text, Internet, Game, Movie and Sport). There's also an OffTimer that shuts down the monitor automatically, and software that divides the screen into four self-contained work areas for improved productivity.

"The monitor’s dual HDMI ports support the latest DVD and Blu-ray players or gaming consoles, and it can also be connected to desktops or notebooks via VGA cable," the company said. "Direct insert connectors face the rear, making it easier to connect the monitor to power and input sources."

Dell has them and so does Samsung, HP, Viewsonic, Asus etc and you can find them at newegg and other retailers. I'm currently planing on selling my 1080p, get a second GPU and a 27" from Dell or the soon to be released Asus 27".

Aw, I was looking forward to a monitor that had even thinner edges for mutli-monitor setups. Looking at the black bars while gaming is irritating for me.

Actually, the manufacturer page says that "the ultra-narrow bezel measures just 5.8mm", not 2mm as stated here.

Agh, the only I don't like is that it's 27" but not 1440p... Ah well, it's to keep the prices down, I guess. I hope there'll be a 22"/23" version.

Emperor Pieheadwho else read borderless display for multi monitor and then was sad that there was no dvi? It's not a big deal - DVI>HDMI cables cost $5, and they're electrically compatible so there's no active conversion or potential loss of quality involved.
