Do The New 19" LCDs Pass Muster?

Samsung 930BF

Despite the relatively poor performance of 4 ms panels - the ViewSonic VX924 being an example - some manufacturers are sticking to their guns and continuing their technical and marketing development. It's hard to believe that an LCD panel can really deliver 4 ms performance under real use conditions. During our first tests of this type of panel, we explained how manufacturers come up with those figures. But the fact is that 4 ms is a much more exciting figure to toss out than 20 ms, even if the real difference is very slim.

Design

The design of the 930BF is fairly nondescript; its black shell gives it a restrained look. The quality of the assembly is good, but nothing to write home about.

Ergonomics

Here again, the 930BF is ho-hum. The panel has a tilt adjustment, and that's all. The OSD is standard for a Samsung model, and really nothing exceptional.
