Do The New 19" LCDs Pass Muster?
Eizo FlexScan L778
If you're a photographer or a video professional, I can see your eyes light up at the mere mention of the name Eizo. A discreet outfit by nature, Eizo has made a name for itself in the professional field based more on the quality of its products than on marketing blather. So it's always a great pleasure to test an Eizo monitor. And when it promises this much, we can't wait to verify the figures.

Design
The L778 is the perfect incarnation of its maker's brand image: discreet, restrained, yet robust and unmistakably pro. No gaudy colors; black is de rigueur , unless you prefer light gray. The plastics used are of high quality.
Ergonomics
The L778 is a professional monitor, and as such its ergonomics have to be beyond reproach. That's the case here; the panel has tilt and height adjustments, and Eizo has used a sliding cradle arrangement called ArcSwing that works quite well. Using it takes a little getting used to, but we did, and ended up liking it. The monitor has no pivot mode, however.
