We recently took our first look at Intel's Ivy Bridge architecture. Then, we evaluated its efficiency. Now, we turn to overclocking. Recently, each of Intel's die shrinks has helped increase frequency headroom. This time, however, we ran into some walls.

Benchmark Results: Adobe CS 5.5

Everything we saw on the preceding page applies here. Sandy Bridge-E universally takes first place, and is trailed by Sandy Bridge by varying degrees, depending on how well-threaded the application is. In none of the Adobe applications does quad-core Ivy Bridge at 4.5 GHz outperform the 4.8 GHz Sandy Bridge-based processor.
