Fans of The Witcher series looking to gear up for the third installment, Wild Hunt, should look no further than Nvidia's "Undeniably Epic" bundle. Essentially, the company is handing out free copies of the highly-anticipated PC game when customers purchase select GeForce GTX 960, 970 and 980 graphics cards. The giveaway also applies to new notebooks with a GTX 970M or higher GPUs.
"Developer CD Projekt Red has provided gamers with an epic story, an epic adventure, and epic graphics," said Nvidia's Leslie Pirritano in a recent blog. "The untamed world of this action-adventure game is a graphics showcase, with stunning vistas and detailed characters."
To run the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, developer CD Projekt RED recommends an Intel Core i7-3770 (3.4 GHz) or an AMD FX-8350 (4.0 GHz) processor. On the GPU front, the recommended specifications call for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or an AMD Radeon R9 290. Other recommended requirements include 8 GB of RAM, 40 GB of hard drive space, DirectX 11, and a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
Can't afford the hardware for the recommended setup? The minimum requirements may be easier to swallow, which include an Intel Core i5-2500K (3.3 GHz) or an AMD Phenom II X4 940 processor. For the GPU, the minimum requirements call for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 GPU, 6 GB of RAM, 40 GB of hard drive space and a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
Nvidia reported that the upcoming open-world RPG is enhanced by a number of Nvidia GameWorks effects such as PhysX clothing and destruction, HairWorks and HBAO+.
"The Northern Kingdoms come to life as HairWorks gives the hair and fur of more than 50 monsters and characters a natural flow," Pirritano said. "Our PhysX technology does the same for clothing characters wear. Combine those with destructible objects and every fight's a spectacular experience."
Presumably, qualifying discreet cards and notebooks will come with a coupon code that can be redeemed here. The hardware can be purchased from Amazon, Newegg, Micro Center, TigerDirect and NCIX. They can also be purchased at AVA Direct, CyberPowerPC, iBuyPower, Origin and other system builder outlets. A full list of retailers can be accessed here.
