The MSI Live utility manifests itself after installation as a chain of menu buttons, and sets a new desktop wallpaper. An Internet connection adds additional features to the utility. Live turns out to be something akin to a collection of widgets that offer a weather forecast, a world clock, newsreader, calendar, image browser, and several shortcuts for Windows functionality.

MSI Live Update 3 consists of two parts. One the one hand, there is MSI Live Monitor, a utility that can update the BIOS, drivers and the Live utility itself. It can be configured to check for updates at regular intervals. On the other hand, there is MSI Update, a tool that connects directly to the MSI Live Update server, allowing the user to update the driver or a specific utility.
