With rising demand from multimedia-enabled handsets, 512 MB microSD cards will become mainstream in the SD memory card market in the second quarter of this year, according to sources at SanDisk Taiwan. Insufficient memory capacity of 256 MB microSD cards and a narrowing of the price gap between the 256 MB and 512 MB versions were the reason behind the increasing demand for 512 MB microSD cards, the sources said.
