We won't spend too much time on the 1080p gaming results. Yes, the RTX 4070 Ti can run 1080p ultra settings very fast — nearly as fast as any other graphics card in our rasterization test suite, where the 4090 only delivers 18% more performance on average. Basically, any of the GPUs in our charts work just fine for 1080p gaming, even with ray tracing turned on — well, maybe not the 6800 XT in a few of the DXR games.
Overall performance was 94 fps across our DXR test suite, and 145 fps in rasterization games. About the only games in the rasterization suite that didn't break 144 fps are CPU limited titles like MSFS — which conveniently also offers DLSS 3 support. The ray tracing games all broke 60 fps as well.
Want even higher frame rates? Yes, you can improve performance even more with medium quality settings. We're pretty much CPU limited across the rasterization suite — the 4090 is only 8% faster on average, mostly thanks to PTR that's still somewhat GPU limited. DXR games do still benefit from the faster GPU, but now the 4090 is only 36% faster overall, though BMI, CP77, and MC still see a decent boost.
Anyway, if you have a 240 Hz monitor with G-Sync support, you can get close to the refresh rate at 1080p and medium to high settings in a lot of games.
