Seven of NVIDIA's Latest and Greatest Cards Tested

Benchmarks

The focus of this roundup lies on the cards' features and their bundles. Therefore, we limited ourselves to three benchmarks. If you're looking for more detailed information on how a specific graphics chip performs, we recommend a look at this article, with its extensive benchmark section: VGA Charts VIII: PCI Express Winter 2005.

Quake 4

Now that NVIDIA has optimized its newest graphics driver releases for Quake 4, the frame rates of all GeForce based cards are up to 10 percent higher. Unsurprisingly, eVGA's water cooled 7800 GTX takes the top spot in id software's first-person shooter. The weaker boards based on the GeForce 6600 GT still offer rather good performance even in Ultra Quality mode with anti-aliasing enabled - their average frame rate stays above 25fps.
