Best Tech Deals March 2020: CPUs, SSDs, More

Best Deals

Even if it's not a holiday, there are great deals on PC hardware all year round and we're here to find them. That's why Tom's Hardware scours the web every day for the best sales on components (CPUs, SSDs, RAM, GPUs), peripherals (monitors, keyboads, mice) and prebuilt PCs (laptops and desktops).

Below, we've listed our favorite tech deals right now, along with some tips you can use to identify deals on your own.

Quick Deal Tips

We've checked these deals to make sure they offer solid savings. But whenever you're shopping, keep in mind:

  • Check price history: Not every so-called deal is actually a real discount. Some products on sale are actually cheaper on other sites and others were raised in price just to lower them again. Use PCPartPicker (best for components), CamelCamelCamel (best for Amazon) or Google Shopping to review price history and competitors.
  • Ensure upgrades are compatible: If you're buying RAM or storage, make sure your PC is upgradeable and has room for those components. You can check your manufacturer's service manual or use Crucial's System Adviser to make sure.
  • Pay a little more for trusted brands: Sometimes you'll see a key product like an SSD on sale from a brand you've never heard of. It's worth the few extra bucks to go with something that's well supported from a manufacturer you can trust.

This deal, for the 12nm refresh of Ryzen 5 1600, should really be up there. While it's occasionally run out of stock, for the most part, it's been available readily since December.

Again, note that it's the 12nm refresh of the Ryzen 5 1600, thus comes with the Wraith Stealth instead of the Wraith Spire, and the part number is YD1600BBAFBOX, rather than YD1600BBAEBOX.

"You can expect a 2K resolution (2560 x 1600) with this IPS display."

    "The Acer Nitro VG240Y display has a 2K resolution of 1920 x 1080"

If we have to deal with "2k" resolution being a thing, can we at least do it with some consistency in what resolution it refers to?
I honestly thought it was another way of saying QHD/1440p, but neither of these are that. Why do I think that?
Because that was the definition Tom's Hardware posted literally last week

As of today (January 29, 2020) there's a nice deal on a Ryzen 3600 at Micro Center for $160. It's an in-store only price. And you can save an additional $20 when bundled with a compatible eligible motherboard.

A suggestion for this page in general, since things just get added to it - perhaps it's best next to each item listed to put the date (or date and time) that it was added, so we know which ones were the reason for the last update, which are recent and might still be valid, and which are older and might no longer be available.

MicroCenter is just insane on the price reductions, I got a 2600x for $80 (but really it was $60 after the combo). My friend is currently buying a computer to render things in Blender and the pricing on the Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3600MHz CL18 32GB(2x16GB) is about half off at MicroCenter compared to any other online retailer. MicroCenter never ceases to surprise me with their crackhead deals.

You should put in an edit about Amazon putting a hold on shipping computer parts.
