At first glance, the P4P800 only differs slightly from the top model P4C800 Deluxe. The yellow PCB layout has been the special trademark of Asus for years. In comparison to its big brother, the manufacturer dispenses with an AGP Pro Slot, but has activated the RAID controller in the Southbridge (ICH5).

Otherwise, the same cost-cutting measures apply as with the P4C800: a RAID controller from VIA (VT6410) for ATA/133 without serial support and the Gigabit LAN chip with PCI connection from 3COM. A FireWire module is integrated into the deluxe model that we tested (VIA VT6307). A praiseworthy feature is the BIOS update under Windows XP, which automatically obtains the newest version via the Internet.

Included with the Asus P4P800.
