Next-generation Bluetooth technology may hit market in 2007

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is working with various groups in developing next-generation Bluetooth technology and expects end products using the technology to hit the market by 2007 at the soonest, according to Kuo-Lian Su, SIG's Asia-Pacific technical marketing manager.

Integrating Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies, the next-generation Bluetooth technology will allow a 480Mbps-bandwidth wireless transmission at a short distance for video conferencing and large-size file transfers, Su said.
