Hynix and Samsung speed up MLC NAND flash migration, spur SLC flash prices up

published The migration to multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash at both Hynix Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics is speeding up, with both companies about to have at least half of their NAND flash produced on an MLC architecture in the fourth quarter of 2006, according to a Korean-language Digital Times report. The adoption of an MLC architecture over single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash could be reflected in the recent price trend.
